Underway - Raymarine, US replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"This would point toward an issue with the display, because it seems the display is getting adequate voltage but not providing enough voltage to the masthead."

Underway - Raymarine, US replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"This is on the low end and could cause the system not to function correctly.  I would now check the voltage on the Seatalk connection, between Red and Gray on the Seatalk cable providing power to the ST60+, it should measure 12+ VDC."

Tim Holley replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"I cut the wires and it is 6.8v. Is that too low for it to work ? Does it indicate a faulty connection between display and base of mast ?"

Tim Holley replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"I had cut the red wire but not the shield.  I was measuring from the red wire (going to the display) and the uncut shield (going from display to masthead).  Would that reflect actual voltage from display at base of mast  ?"

Bad Marc - Raymarine.US replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"Make sure that the cable going from the mast to the base is disconnected at the base when you do your voltage check from the base to the display. ( a bad cable could load it down. giving you a false reading ) 6.3 is too low. "

Tim Holley replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"I finally got back to the boat. Red to shield is 6.3V at the base of the mast (was 8V at the display). Is that too low, meaning I have a bad splice between the display and base of the mast ? (Or just normal voltage drop ?)"

"Okay,  thanks,  I'll do a test at the base of the mast."

Underway - Raymarine, US replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"Yes, there could be an issue with the cable coming from the bottom of the mast splice to the back of the display.  If you get different readings at the bottom of the mast, you will confirm a cable issue and the wiring should be replaced."

Tim Holley replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"There are splices there,  but I assumed the test at the display would have verified those.  Presumably I should test at that location as well ?"

Underway - Raymarine, US replied to Tim Holley's discussion ST60+. Wind Troubleshooting
"Is there any splices in the cable at the bottom of the mast, you might want to look at cabling if you think the masthead is good."
