After working well for the past couple of years, my ST70 control head for an SPX-30 now goes blank after starting up (beeps and shows ST70 logo). I'm aware of the "send it in for an update" response. That would be fine if we were in the US, however we're in the Exumas in the Bahamas. Shipping anything in and out of the Bahamas is hellish expensive (shipping fees, customs fees of at least 33% on the value of the item) and can literally take weeks to work out of and into the Bahamas. Is there any way to revive the ST70? I have spare STng cables, STng/ST adapters, and ST/NMEA adapters.

Data access is very limited (mostly WiFi for a fee - here in Warderick Wells it's $15 for 100Mb or 24hrs - whichever expires first).

The only thing I can have you try outside the service facility is re-loading the latest software to the ST70 Control head, v3.04.  This might revive the control head display, but if not you will have no other choice but send to unit in because it is a internal issue within the display.

Do we need an RMA for this?  If so, how do we get one?  My unit has been doing this for 2 years and our last calls to support didn't mention anything about this.

Luckily we have 3 others so we can get by.

Um, I'm not sure how this popped up. The problem occurred five years ago (2013). The ticket can be closed.

Thanks Richard, it's called Google and it searches for things on the internet.  Your problem is the same as my problem and I'd like a reply from Raymarine before they close it out because I'd like my unit to get repaired.

The light dawns. The solution was to replace the unit. At this point (2018) I'm not sure that Raymarine can still repair the unit. We were in the Exumas when the unit failed. Ultimately, I bought a replacement (successor to the ST70 - I forget the model) and had it flown to Staniel Key for pick up. Although Raymarine said they could repair the unit, the turn-around time and logistics of sending and receiving the part was not a winner. HTH :)

ADDED: IIRC the "blank screen" problem was a known issue. That is, this wasn't a one-off problem.
