e We have just purchased a 2009 boat with a 45 series satellite antenna but has never been hooked up.  There are two of the IRD units, one installed and the other is new in a box.  All cable is run to four televisions but not terminated.  Will the 2009 year model 45 work with the new Direct TV Genie series unit?  Or what Directv model do I have to purchase?

Regards,

JV

James,

This system is on the fence so, Is the antenna control unit black or grey?

Or do you have a part number for the system? This can be looked up in the set up menu on the ACU.

Cheers,

Ace,

The two control units are gray, the best I remember.

James

James,

There is only one Antenna control unit and we need to be 100% sure what it is as guessing leads to horrible results with these systems. The Antenna control unit is a seperate box form the Direct TV receivers.

Direct TV also has the limitation of Standard Definition only with these antennas. I would not recommend the genie or any dvr with these antennas.

Direct TV however, is a simple installation and easier to operate in my opinion.

From my experience you will not notice the SD unless you have 37" and larger tv's on the boat.

Please advise,

Ace,

I am finally at the boat to get good numbers on the units.
One unit is the R08255 HD Antenna Control unit and the other is the 45STV Product number 444-E93002. It is gray in color. Sent the picture. I have tried to find a manual for the R08255 for hook up but need a little help

James,

Attached are the two owners manuals. See page 11 of 81285 and page 19 of 81258.

The ACU that has the E93002 on it will be a spare acu. You will want to connect the ACU R08255 as shown above. You will want to use the Direct TV H24(A42218) or the D12(E96011) receivers for your IRD's.  The installation is simple in the fact that you do not want to deviate from the drawing at all. This can cause the system not to work. So, you do not want any b-band converters, splitters, etc. in the system. The drawing also includes the diseqc supplier part # A96014.

Lets start with this as we are in the planning phase of the installation. What is the model of your vessel? I would like to know in case there may be something  we are overlooking.

Please let me know what questions you have,

Thank you and best regards,

Ace,
